  • Breast Cancer: What does age have to do with it?

  • The 2nd Canadian Cancer Research Conference has been scheduled for November 3-6, 2013 at the Sheraton Centre in Toronto. During this meeting, ICR and the Canadian Cancer Society will be hosting another New Principal Investigators Meeting as part of the Careers in Cancer Research Development Program, which will also include career development lunch lectures as well as a career developmental portal and discussion forum. This meeting is an excellent opportunity for networking and cross-fertilization for researchers at all stages in their careers.


  • ICR partners with the New York Academy of Sciences (NYAS) to support the NYAS-CIHR Institute of Cancer Research Early Career Investigator Travel Fellowships for the upcoming conference Nanotechnologies in Cancer Diagnosis, Therapy and Prevention on June 11–13, 2013, which is now taking place at the Rockefeller Research Laboratories at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Centre in New York City, NY. Application deadline has been postponed to May 8, 2013.

  • June 9-12, 2013, Ottawa - Canadian Public Health Association (CPHA) 2013 Annual Conference
    CPHA is pleased to announce the call for abstracts, workshops, pre-conference and breakfast sessions for the CPHA 2013 Annual Conference.


  • 34th Institute Advisory Board (IAB) Meeting of the CIHR Institute of Cancer Research (ICR), May 28-29, 2013, Montreal, Quebec.

  • ICR is participating in the EuroBioForum 2013 on May 27-28, 2013 in Munich, Germany.

  • ICR, in collaboration with Health Canada, is representing Canada at the 55th session of the Governing Council of the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) on May 16-17, 2013 in Lyon, France.

  • ICR, in collaboration with Terry Fox, is organizing a workshop to gather the teams funded by the CIHR Strategic Training Initiative in Health Research (STIHR) program, as part of the Terry Fox Research Institute Annual Scientific Meeting on May 8-11, 2013 in Ottawa, Ontario.


  • ICR will participate in the Conference on Innovation and Patient Access to Personalised Medicine on March 20-21, 2013 in Dublin (Ireland), organized by the European Alliance for Personalised Medicine in association with the Irish EU Presidency.

  • ICR and Genome Canada, in partnership with the Stem Cell Network, is co-leading the Cancer Stem Cell Consortium Focus Group Meeting on March 17-18, 2013 in Toronto, Ontario.


  • ICR participated in the World Cancer Day Forum held at the Montreal Neurological Hospital on February 4th. This event was organized by the Cedars Cancer Institute and the Goodman Cancer Research Centre in effort to dispel common cancer myths and provide the facts about cancer care and research progress being made in Montreal.


  • ICR and the Institute of Genetics attended the European Science Foundation’s Launch of their “Forward Look” on “Personalised Medicine for the European Citizen: Towards more precise medicine for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease (iPM)” on January 27-28, 2013 in Brussels (Belgium).

  • ICR and IG partnered on the APBC Travel Award for The Eleventh Asia Pacific Bioinformatics Conference on January 21-23, 2013 in Vancouver, BC.
