Dr. Robert S. Sheldon

Dr. Robert Sheldon received a B.Sc. from Bishop's University, Lennoxville, Quebec, in 1969 and a Ph.D. from the University of Colorado in 1973. He did postdoctoral research at the Medical Research Council Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge, England, from 1973 to 1976, and at the Department of Medical Genetics, University of Toronto, from 1976 to 1977. In 1981, after receiving his M.D. from the University of Toronto, he moved to Calgary where he finished his training in Cardiology and arrhythmia disturbances. He joined the staff of the University of Calgary Division of Cardiology in 1988, and practiced at the Bow Valley Centre of the Calgary General Hospital for a number of years before finally settling at the Foothills Medical Center with an active practice in arrhythmia management.
Dr. Sheldon is also Vice-President Research in Alberta Health Services (Calgary Health Region). He has an active clinical research group dedicated to understanding the causes, diagnosis, and treatment of transient losses of consciousness.
