Gene-Environment Interactions in Circulatory and Respiratory Diseases

Year 2002 Decisions

This initiative in the area of "Gene-Environment Interactions in Circulatory and Respiratory Diseases" focused on the interplay between genetic and environmental factors in the manifestation and progression of circulatory and respiratory diseases and disorders.

The purpose of the Interdisciplinary Health Research Teams (IHRT) program is to build collaborations among scientists working in the fields of population health epidemiology, environmental health sciences, cell, molecular biology, biochemistry, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, genomics, molecular diagnostics, and biostatistics to plan innovative research programs that integrate molecular and epidemiologic perspectives. The general purpose of the collaboration is to elucidate critical research questions in circulatory and respiratory diseases that cannot be addressed within the confines of a single discipline.

The ICRH and the HSFC are pleased to announce the results of the competition for proposals addressing "Gene-Environment Interactions in Circulatory and Respiratory Diseases." A multidisciplinary peer review committee approved 3 proposals for funding.

Congratulations to the successful teams!
