The purpose of this initiative is to support teams of researchers and decision makers interested in conducting applied health research useful to health system managers and/ or policy makers over the next two-to-five years. More specifically, successful applicant teams will conduct health services, systems and policy research projects of up to three years in length, in thematic areas identified as high priority in recent national consultations conducted by the Institute of Health Services and Policy Research (IHSPR) (Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR)) and its partners. This funding opportunity to support research projects was developed and previously managed by the Canadian Health Services Research Foundation (CHSRF) as part of its "Open Grants Competition" since 1998.
CHSRF will continue to fund research, but through a new competition that will support a limited number of programs of research that combine the conduct of research with the development of research capacity, especially among the decision-maker community. The competition will focus on the foundation's priority themes: nursing leadership, organization and policy; management of the healthcare workplace; managing for quality and safety; and primary healthcare. The CHSRF competition will be launched in mid-October and the Call for Proposals will be posted on the foundation's website [ External Site | Help ].
The Partnerships for Health System Improvement funding opportunity will be launched in mid-September 2004. Please visit the CIHR website at that time to view the call for applications.
