Research on Privacy

Ethics is a key part of the CIHR mandate, both in terms of promoting, assisting and undertaking health research that meets the highest standards of ethics, as well as encouraging inter-disciplinary, innovative and integrative research on ethical, legal and social (ELS) issues pertaining to health. CIHR's Ethics Office, in collaboration with others, is launching strategic initiatives that is supported, in part, through a special fund.

Past opportunities

  • 2004 - Joint Research Priority Announcement on Personal Information in Health Research, to provide funding for the following open competition programs: Operating Grants and Fellowships.

  • 2003 - RFA on Compelling Values: Privacy, Access to Data & Health Research Competition, to provide operating grant funds in support of initiatives that address issues related to collection, use and disclosure of personal information for health research purposes.
