Scoping Reviews and Research Syntheses: Priority Health Services and System Issues

The Institute of Health Services and Policy Research, Institute of Population and Public Health, Institute of Aboriginal Peoples' Health, Institute of Musculoskeletal Health and Arthritis and the Knowledge Translation Branch are pleased to announce the results of the competition 'Scoping Reviews and Research Syntheses: Priority Health Services and System Issues' Request for Applications (RFA).

The purpose of this RFA is to support health services and policy research in thematic areas identified as high priority in recent national consultations. More specifically, funded work will:

Identify the most important issues/sub-areas where additional research should be a priority, within the following areas (i.e. scoping reviews):

  • Workforce planning, training and regulation
  • Timely access to quality care for all
  • Sustainable financing, funding and ethical resource allocation
  • Governance and accountability

And/or

Complete a synthesis in a sub-area or sub-areas where sufficient research evidence already exists, that can be used by health care and public health policy-makers, administrators, managers and the research community to better understand the likely implications of competing policy or management options in one or more of the following areas (i.e. research synthesis):

  • Workforce planning, training and regulation
  • Timely access to quality care for all
  • Understanding and responding to public expectations
  • Sustainable financing, funding and ethical resource allocation
  • Governance and accountability
  • Linking public health to health services

Twenty-two operating grant applications were received, of which eleven were approved for funding.
