Consultation on the Governance of Canadian Research Ethics
The Presidents of the Canadian Institutes for Health Research (CIHR), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC ), and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) wish to inform you of a recently-launched consultation on the governance of research ethics. As the consultation concerns possible changes to the manner in which research ethics is governed in Canada, responses from a wide variety of stakeholders in the research community are strongly encouraged.
The consultation is being conducted by the Sponsors Table, a group of organizations with a shared interest in promoting research involving humans that meets the highest standards in excellence and ethics. Canada's three federal funding agencies (CIHR, NSERC and SSHRC) are members of the Sponsors Table.
