Institute of Infection and Immunity (III) Priority Announcement - HIV/AIDS Research Initiative
CIHR is pleased to announce further research grants offered under the Federal Initiative to Address HIV/AIDS in Canada.As one of four federal partners under the Federal Initiative, III administers the CIHR HIV/AIDS Research Initiative and funds meritorious research grants and personnel awards in strategic areas of HIV/AIDS research. In keeping with the intent of the Federal Initiative, the CIHR HIV/AIDS Research Initiative promotes Canadian research, which increases our understanding of the virus, the epidemic and effective responses. The purpose of this Priority Announcement was to strengthen HIV/AIDS research by increasing the opportunities for funding meritorious HIV/AIDS research projects in priority areas within the open grants competition.
The table below indicates the total number of HIV/AIDS applications received in the III HIV/AIDS Priority Announcement, those approved through the CIHR Open Competition and the number of additional applications approved under the HIV/AIDS Research Initiative in the September 2007 Operating Grants competition. The total number of applications received and approved for funding includes any grants that require Stem Cell Oversight Committee review; however, these applications will only be posted on the list of successful applications following further consideration by Governing Council. If an application falls into this category, then the Nominated Principal Investigator is notified in the Letter of Decision. Select the corresponding link to view a list of approved applications.
