CIHR and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals is pleased to announce the results of the "Chair: Oncology (Wyeth Pharmaceuticals Partnered)" competition.
Wyeth, in partnership with the CIHR/Rx&D Collaborative Research Program, has created one (1) professorial clinical research Chair in Oncology in Canada for an initial three (3) years, plus an additional two (2) years conditional upon funding availability and acceptable progress report (2008 - 2013). The Chair will be dedicated to Clinical Research in Oncology, specifically in Kidney Cancer with the aim of broadening scientific knowledge to address kidney cancer treatment issues in Canada.
The specific objectives of the funding opportunity are:
- to champion oncology/kidney cancer as a field of medical research;
- to facilitate or lead multidisciplinary approaches to study critical issues in kidney cancer; and
- to stimulate research and develop standards for clinical excellence.
A total of 5 applications were submitted. Applications were reviewed by the Wyeth Research Chairs Peer Review Committee, resulting in the approval of one (1) application. (Success rate of 20%)
