CIHR Clinical Research Initiative - Research Personnel Awards
Fall 2007 Competition Results
The Clinical Research Initiative is CIHR's response to a clear need and opportunity to strengthen Canadian clinical research and to enhance its uptake into practice and policy. Since 2001, CIHR has led a process of national consultation, needs identification, partnership building and action development which has formulated plans for training and sustaining the next generation of clinician researchers and for creating nationally networked clinical research centers. CIHR has designated the Clinical Research Initiative as one of its top strategic priorities.
With the goal of further strengthening the Canadian clinical research endeavor by increasing the number of clinician-investigators, the Clinical Research Initiative has approved a number of awards through the Research Personnel Awards Programs.
Candidates were considered eligible for Clinical Research Initiative awards if they were "active clinically", i.e., clinically qualified, currently licensed in Canada, active clinically in the past and capable of being active clinically in the future.
