CIHR Institute of Genetics (IG) Catalyst Grants: Invention - Tools, Techniques and Devices; and High-Risk, High-Benefit Research

The CIHR Institute of Genetics (IG) - in partnership with CIHR's Regenerative Medicine and Nanomedicine Initiative - is pleased to announce the results of the March 2008 Catalyst Grants: (i) Inventions - Tools, Techniques and Devices; and (ii) High-Risk, High-Benefit Research competition.

The objectives of the IG Catalyst Grant program are to:

  • Promote the engagement of Canadian investigators in research projects to advance research tools and techniques in a broad sense, where invention, application and development, rather than discovery, is expected to be the essence of those projects
  • Support high-risk, high-benefit health research that has the potential for high impact

A total of 42 full applications were reviewed by the Catalyst Grants: Invention and High-Risk, High-Benefit Research Peer Review Committee, of which twelve will be funded; representing an investment of $3,378,191 over three years.
