Research Profile January 2009 - Searching for answers to Alzheimer's disease

Searching for answers to Alzheimer's disease

An estimated 450,000 Canadians are currently living with Alzheimer's disease or some other form of dementia, and this number is expected to grow as our population ages. Today, a person with Alzheimer's disease has few treatment options. But researchers across the country are working to change that. CIHR is supporting researchers investigating the causes of this devastating disease and potential cures.

Throughout the month of January, we will be highlighting some promising projects that could offer new hope to Alzheimer patients and their loved ones.
