RMNI has partnered with the CIHR Institute of Genetics on their Catalyst Grant funding opportunity. This funding opportunity is designed to support two unique areas of strategic investment: (a) Invention - Tools, Techniques and Devices; and (b) High-Risk, High-Benefit Research. RMNI will support applications in any eligible research area of its current mandate.

RMNI has partnered with CIHR's Knowledge Synthesis and Exchange Branch on this funding opportunity which aims to support teams of researchers and decision makers/knowledge users to produce knowledge syntheses and scoping reviews. RMNI will provide funding support through this opportunity based on the research priorities identified at the Canadian Workshop on Multidisciplinary Research on Nanotechnology.
Recent Funding Decisions
RMNI Emerging Team Grant Results (Launched July 2007)
This announcement provided research support in the areas of Nanotechnology Applied to Health (Nanomedicine), Stem Cells, Tissue Engineering, and Rehabilitation Sciences.
Fifty two Letters of Intent (LOIs) were received, of which thirty were invited to submit full applications. Twenty six full applications were received, and nine were approved for funding with a total commitment of $20,069,594 over 5 years.
Knowledge Synthesis Grant and Knowledge to Action Grant
RMNI partnered on these two funding opportunities launched in June 2008. Stay tuned for funding decisions to be announced April 2009.

This forum will focus on emerging research and specific business opportunities related to stem cells and regenerative medicine from across the UC System and from British and Canadian universities and institutions.

The Government of Canada, under the leadership of Industry Canada, will be participating in the Country Science and Technology Sessions on the theme of Regenerative Medicine.

Current Reports
Canadian Workshop on Multidisciplinary Research on Nanotechnology: Gaps, Opportunities and Priorities
January 22-24, 2008, Edmonton, Alberta
Experts and interested stakeholders came together to discuss and identify priorities for research on nanotechnology in Canada, particularly as they relate to NE3LS issues (i.e. nanotechnology ethical, environmental, economic, legal and social issues), health impacts and risks, and the regulatory mechanisms needed to address them.
