Funding Opportunity Summary
The specific objectives of the funding opportunity "Meetings, Planning and Dissemination Grant: Cancer Research (Winter 2009 Competition)" is to partially support workshops, symposia, and congresses that are:
- related to cancer
- relevant to the health of Canadians at risk of cancer
- relevant to the development of cancer research capacity in Canada
- multidisciplinary and/or multi-institutional
- cross-cutting (involving more than one CIHR supported types of research*)
- multisectorial (involving universities, NGOs, governments, the private sector, etc.—desirable but not necessary)
- multi-institute (desirable but not necessary)
The four types of research supported by CIHR and ICR include "biomedical research, clinical research, research respecting health systems, health services, the health of populations, social and cultural dimensions of health and environmental influences on health".

A total of 8 applications were received of which 6 were approved for funding.
