Coming into force of the revised Confidentiality and Conflict of Interest Policy (CCIP)

(2009-06-01) CIHR's revised "Conflict of Interest and Confidentiality Policy in the Context of Merit, Relevance and Peer Review (CCIP)" became effective as of June 30th, 2008 and has been recently updated. As part of the implementation strategy, the CCIP working group has completed its annual revision of this policy.

The objective of the policy is to provide guidance in the management of potential conflict of interest, and to ensure the confidentiality of personal information of anyone involved in CIHR's competition processes (merit, relevance and peer review). This includes, but is not limited to, members of CIHR Governing Council and its Standing Committees and Subcommittees, Scientific Directors, Institute Staff, Members of Institute Advisory Boards, as well as CIHR employees, volunteers - including both internal and external reviewers, contractors, partners and members of steering, standing and consultative committees.

Some updates to this policy include revision of the following:

  • Definition of Material Conflict of Interest;
  • Eligibility of Review Committee Membership;
  • Sharing of Documents with Nominative Information where CIHR Conducts a Review and
  • Roles and Responsibilities.

The electronic version of the CCIP is available online.
