Marlene Reimer Brain Star of the Year award

Alain Simard from the Laval University is the recipient of the 2007 Marlene Reimer Brain Star of the Year award. Alain received the award for an article published in Neuron, showing the crucial role that bone marrow-derived microglia play in the restriction of Alzheimer's disease progression. The paper was presented to the Canadian Association of Neuroscience in Montreal, Quebec in May of 2008. Alain was the Brain Star awardee for November 15, 2006.

Marlene Reimer was an inaugural member of INMHA advisory board, the first chair of its focus group on training and education and a strong supporter of the Brain Star Award. She unfortunately passed away in 2005.
