Funding Opportunity Summary
The specific objective of the funding opportunity "Other: Antibiotic Resistance" is to provide Canadian and UK researchers working in the field of antibiotic resistance the opportunity to fully assess the potential for meaningful collaborations likely to advance the science at a faster pace than might be expected if researchers were to work independently. III and the MRC are not able to provide assistance with forming such collaborations; this is the responsibility of the PIs. It is expected that successful teams will use the grant to conduct a full inventory of expertise and resources in their respective countries related to their specific area of study.
This information will form the basis for the development of innovative, realistic and relevant research strategies and proposals likely to have international impact. This funding opportunity is not intended to support research projects or research activity but rather the collection of the evidence required to build strong collaborative research proposals that capitalize on the unique strengths in the UK and Canada. Examples of these activities might include:
- Evidence gathering, strategic reviews, and research needs/impacts assessments
- Planning and hosting of workshops and research meetings
- Building appropriate research strategies, plans and proposals
- Bringing together working partnerships, collaborations and management mechanisms
- Negotiations with host institutions and funding agencies
- Developing communications strategies
- Developing knowledge translation approaches and opportunities for the proposed research projects and their outcomes
