Mental Health Café Scientifique Series
Through its Café Scientifique program, CIHR provides funding opportunities to external partners and organizes a number of its own Café events each year. This year, CIHR has dedicated its corporate Cafés to the important issue of mental health and illness. In partnership with the Mental Health Commission of Canada, CIHR and its 13 Institutes are hosting a pan-Canadian Mental Health Café Scientifique series.
The CIHR-MHCC Mental Health Café series consists of 14 Café events taking place across the country over a one-year time period. Each Café focuses on an issue of importance to the public, policy makers and researchers alike. Topics range from mental health and illness among men, the elderly and youth, the genetics of mental illness, contexts (workplaces, housing, and neighbourhoods) and mental health, disordered eating, suicide among First Nations, Inuit and Métis youth in Canada, equity of access to mental health services, and more. Check out the list of mental health Cafés below to find one in a city near you or contact Christian Riel for more information about the series.
