The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), Knowledge Synthesis and Exchange Branch, solicited an application from the Canadian Virtual Health Library (CVHL) to establish a formal network of health libraries to collaborate in the delivery of services to knowledge users (e.g., health care practitioners, health professionals, policy-makers, and volunteer health organizations) and to realize efficiencies through resource sharing. The CVHL will contribute to the effective and efficient operation of Canada's health system by ensuring equitable access to health information and by optimizing the use of resources through coordination of existing services across the country.

This grant will address the CIHR Roadmap Strategic Direction #3, ''Accelerate the Capture of Health and Economic Benefits of Health Research'', specifically the goal of enhancing the application of research and its evaluation.
