Department of Obsterics-Gynecology
University of Montreal
François Dubé is professor in the Department of Obstetrics-Gynecology at the Université de Montréal (UdeM) since 1995 and he is working at the Centre de recherche du Centre hospitalier de l'université de Montréal (CR-CHUM), at St-Luc hospital. Holding degrees in biological sciences from UdeM (Ph.D. 1983), he completed post-doctoral work at Hopkins Marine Station of Stanford university (1983-1985), before becoming professor in the Department of Oceanography at University of Quebec at Rimouski (1985 to 1995). His research on the biochemistry of fertilization, egg activation, and control of early embryonic cell cycles, led him to several stays in marine stations, including Roscoff (France) and Woods Hole (USA). Since his appointment at UdeM in 1995, his research interests extended to mammalian reproduction, especially the roles of biogenic amines in this process. His interests for ethical and legal issues in science led him to complete a certificate in law (2008). His broader concerns cover questions related to reproductive processes in humans as well as multidisciplinary aspects involving neurosciences and cardiovascular physiology in the control of fertility and human reproductive health.
