Salary and Benefits

CIHR offers attractive benefits. The salary will be based on the individual's qualifications and experience. The salary range for this position is $89,868 to $112,335 per annum with eligibility for performance pay.

Merit Criteria

Position Description:

Reporting to the Director, Knowledge Translation (KT) in collaboration with the Scientific Director, Institute of Health Services & Policy Research (IHSPR), the Manager provides proactive leadership and management for the Evidence on Tap (ETP) and Partnership for Health System Improvement (PHSI) Programs. These programs are major strategic CIHR initiatives that have a CIHR-wide mandate. The programs are designed to help decision makers tackle health system challenges and support timely, applied and relevant health services and policy research and its translation into improved health for Canadians, more effective health services and products and a strengthened Canadian health-care system. The Manager has a major responsibility for defining and implementing the overall strategies of these programs. The Manager is required to act autonomously, and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of program activity throughout their lifecycle, from conceptualization to implementation and evaluation.

Essential Qualifications

Education:

  • Master's degree from a recognized university or an undergraduate degree and an acceptable combination of formal education, related work experience and training.

Experience:

  • Working within the diverse research fields and disciplines encompassed by the ETP and PHSI programs, especially health services and/or health policy research and integrated knowledge translation
  • Interacting with and knowledge of the relevant stakeholders/partners in Canada, especially provincial ministries of health and regional funding agencies
  • Managing projects and understanding of the related project management methods and tools
  • Working within a health research environment
  • Managing human and financial resources

Asset Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of CIHR-specific policies, processes, operations and funding programs
  • Ability to think innovatively and independently, to develop strategic, communications and evaluation plans
  • Ability to manage projects and to deliver expected results on time and on budget, and deal with competing demands and priorities on a regular basis
  • Excellent coordination and facilitation skills, and ability to effectively lead discussions
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and conflict management skills
  • Demonstrated experience interacting with senior officials and decision-makers
  • Demonstrate ability to plan, develop and implement new strategies
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in both official languages
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Strong problem solving and decision making skills
  • Ability to use appropriate software such as spreadsheets, PowerPoint, and word processing

Language Requirements

Bilingual imperative (BBB/BBB).
