The World Health Organization has identified hypertension (high blood pressure) as the number one cause of death in the world. While there are many different things that contribute to the development of high blood pressure, lifestyle is one of the key factors. What we eat, especially the amount of salt (sodium) in our diet, has a significant impact on blood pressure. During this event we will explore how and why salt influences blood pressure as well as what we can do to help reduce its effects.
This Café Scientifique event is sponsored by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and organized by Concordia University's Office of Research in collaboration with the Canadian Association of Cardiac Rehabilitation. Free admission – space is limited.
