HIV/AIDS Research Initiative Community Support (ICS) Program (2013-14)
The ICS Program is designed to foster community development by providing grants and awards to individuals and organizations for the purposes of:
- Enabling research and knowledge translation activities where the circumstances fall outside of CIHR's current suite of funding programs.
- Supporting individuals and organizations whose goals are consistent with CIHR and its Institutes' vision, mandate and strategic directions.
The ICS Program is not intended to support the direct cost of research (e.g., pilot projects, feasibility studies or operating grants), principal and co-investigator salaries or research equipment.
HIV/AIDS Initiative Travel Awards
Through the ICS program, the CIHR HIV/AIDS Research Initiative will provide funding for Travel Awards. HIV/AIDS Initiative Travel Awards provide funding for individuals, including knowledge users and community-based researchers, presenting their own research (i.e., keynote/panel presenter, poster, workshop, etc.) at Canadian or international conferences or symposia that are determined to be relevant to its mandate.
Please note that since August 2011, the Travel Awards program is administered through ResearchNet. There are three competitions per year, launched in April, August and December. Please visit the CIHR Funding Opportunities Database at those times for details on the funding opportunity (e.g. application deadline, application instructions, etc).
The CIHR HIV/AIDS Research Initiative’s contribution to the amount available for this program is subject to availability of fund voted annual to CIHR by parliamentary appropriations, and the conditions that may be attached to them.
The total amount available for the HIV/AIDS Initiative ICS program for 2013-14 is $45,000 distributed among the three travel award competitions for the year.
For those seeking workshop and symposium support, please refer to the Dissemination Events or Planning Grants funding opportunities in the CIHR Funding Opportunities Database.
For those seeking support for Café Scientifique, please refer to the CIHR Café Scientifique Program.
