Virtual Debate & Dialogue Series

Overview

From October 25, 2010 – May 2, 2011, the Institute of Population and Public Health (IPPH) is hosting a virtual Debate & Dialogue Series on population health ethics. This series builds on the success of the IPPH Journal Club and is intended to facilitate the application of principles of population health ethics to a series of cases. Participants include a diverse group of researchers, policy makers, and practitioners who are interested in population and public health ethics. The aim of this series is to support and stimulate discussions about the ethical foundations of population health interventions. Leading scientists and ethicists who are addressing this issue were invited to present their case analysis and facilitate debate and dialogue amongst participants.

Purpose

  • To consider fundamental questions about the application of population health ethics principles and frameworks to the design and evaluation of population health interventions.
  • To develop detailed analyses of cases regarding the application of population health ethics principles and frameworks to the design and evaluation of population health intervention.

Format

Each session features two invited discussants who present their perspectives on the case and engage each other and the participants in open discussion to further advance the case analysis. All sessions are held using audio-teleconferencing and webinar technology.
