- ICR is pleased to launch its new Publication Prizes program to recognize significant contributions by students and trainees in the field of cancer research. The first competition deadline is December 31, 2010.

- As of September 1, ICR welcomes four new members on its Advisory Board: Dr. Francine Durocher from the Université Laval, Dr. Jon Kerner from the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer Corporation, Dr. Donna Turner from the Cancer Care Manitoba and Dr. André Veillette from the Institut de recherches cliniques de Montréal.

- The CIHR Institute of Cancer Research is organizing an Application Development Workshop in Ottawa on October 6, 2010 for the Late Effects of Childhood Cancer Treatments RFA. This workshop will provide potential applicants with an opportunity to establish multidisciplinary teams, gain a clear understanding of the scope of the Funding Opportunity, and learn of available resources that will strengthen their applications. Researchers interested in this funding opportunity are strongly encouraged to attend this workshop and must register by August 16, 2010.

- ICR is launching two new funding opportunities: The Operating Grant: Fall 2010 Priority Announcement in Cancer Research (Bridge Funding) and the Team Grant: Childhood Cancer – Late Effects of Treatment.
- Details regarding the Breast Cancer Research Priority Announcement will be posted in August 2010 for the September 15th Operating Grant competition.
- The cancer community is invited to refer to the Guidebook for New Investigators to obtain advice on applying for grants, writing papers or setting up a research team. This manual has been prepared by the Institute of Genetics for its community and applies to all researchers.
