Launch of the CIHR Health Researcher of the Year Funding Opportunity
(2011-01-19) The funding opportunity for the CIHR Health Researcher of the Year Prize (formerly called the Michael Smith Prize in Health Research) is now available on CIHR's website.The CIHR Health Researcher of the Year Prize is CIHR's most prestigious prize. A career achievement award, it honours and recognizes an exceptional health researcher who has demonstrated significant achievements in advancing knowledge through excellence in research, in capacity building and mentorship and through research and knowledge translation activities that have made a significant impact on improving health and the health system. Candidates must be nominated by a member of the Canadian health research community and be endorsed by the executive head of the candidate's institution.
Nominations are invited in all areas of health research: biomedical, clinical, health services and policy, and population and public health. The recipient of the CIHR Health Researcher of the Year Prize will be selected on the recommendation of a standing international peer review committee established specifically for this purpose. The committee will be comprised of a broad array of experts able to assess excellence and impact across all four CIHR health research theme areas.
