Canada's attitude toward smoking has changed dramatically in a very short time. Eye-opening health promotion campaigns and increasingly strict regulations have persuaded most Canadians to abandon tobacco and not to start smoking. But there are still 4.9 million of us who look past the graphic warning labels, stand outside in the cold, and ignore the health risks to get our nicotine fix.

This last group of smokers has public health experts wondering what to do next. Who are the last smokers? Do they lack the resources or support they need to quit? Do we need to address issues in their lives before we can tackle their nicotine addiction? How can we work together to help them escape this preventable cause of death and disease? Bring your thoughts and ideas and join the conversation.

This free event is hosted by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research - Institute of Population and Public Health and the Public Health Agency of Canada.
