Important Changes to the ICRH Chronic Disease Risk and Intervention Strategies Team Grant Funding Opportunity

(2011-02-02) The CIHR Institute of Circulatory and Respiratory Health (ICRH) in partnership with the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, The Lung Association and the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation would like to notify the research community of a few key amendments made to the Chronic Disease Risk and Intervention Strategies Team Grant Funding Opportunity.

Following recent discussions with the research community, it became apparent that the Chronic Disease Risk and Intervention Strategies Team Grant funding opportunity in its current format does not put sufficient emphasis on the importance of multidisciplinary research, clinical research, networking across the country, and training/mentorship opportunities for young investigators. As such, and to ensure that researchers can clearly address these important criteria in their applications, the funding opportunity has been recently revised. Please refer to the CIHR Funding Opportunities Database.

Please pay particular attention to the following revised sections of the funding opportunity:

  • Description
  • Funds Available
  • Objectives
  • Eligibility to Apply
  • Evaluation Criteria
  • Letter of Intent (LOI) How to Apply

Also note that applications involving Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) are now permitted. Please review the above sections carefully to ensure that you are eligible to apply. Note that the changes to the evaluation criteria will affect Peer Review and the adjudication process.

In addition, due to limited financial resources, ICRH and its partners anticipate funding two teams through this competition.

To allow researchers to properly address these modifications, the LOI deadline date has been extended to March 31, 2011.
