It is my sincere pleasure to help present the 2011 Canadian Health Research Awards on behalf of CIHR's Governing Council.

Canada has a strong and diverse health research community. Our researchers are leading the way in a wide range of fields, from lab-based biomedical research to community-based public health research. But a common theme unites their work: a desire to improve Canadians' health and quality of life. Each year, CIHR honours several exceptional researchers who have achieved great impact through their work.

For the third consecutive year, CIHR will be uniting with Prix Galien Canada for this awards ceremony. Our annual partnership emphasizes the importance of cultivating and supporting research talent in both the public and private sectors. CIHR is honoured to join Prix Galien Canada in this celebration.

I wish to offer my congratulations to this year's award winners. CIHR appreciates your dedication and ingenuity, and we wish you continued success in the future.
