CIHR Presents at the 2012 AAAS Meeting in Vancouver, BC

This year, the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science comes to Vancouver, from February 16-20. CIHR will have a number of representatives at the meeting to discuss important issues and new ideas in health research.

Patient-Oriented Research – Dr. Alain Beaudet

CIHR President Alain Beaudet will be moderating a symposium on the need for a more patient-focused approach to health care. Dr. Beaudet, along with Drs. Morag Park, David Huntsman and Pieter Cullis, will present a Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research for Canada and share leading-edge research in the field of personalized medicine.

Sustainable Career Paths in Global Health Research – Dr. Nancy Edwards

Dr. Nancy Edwards and Erica Di Ruggiero from the CIHR Institute of Population and Public Health will also be present to take part in a workshop on creating sustainable career paths in global health research. The workshop will feature presentations that outline the many factors that affect a country's ability to attract and retain global health researchers.

Vanier Canada Graduate and Banting Postdoctoral Scholars

The AAAS meeting will also include presentations from Vanier Canada Graduate Scholar Sherilee Harper and Banting Postdoctoral Fellow Andrew Tanzentap, who will discuss progress in their CIHR-funded research with an international audience.
