KT Science
Supports the advancement of the science of knowledge translationOpen Operating Grant Program
Support KT Science research through the Knowledge Translation Research Peer Review Committee
The CIHR Open Operating Grant Program (OOGP) provides operating funds to support research proposals in all areas of health research including randomized controlled trials. Funding is augmented by Institute Priority Announcements and other linked funding programs that also award grants through the OOGP, as well as one-year grants that may be awarded by CIHR.
Each fall the Knowledge Translation Branch contributes to the OOGP through a Priority Announcement. The purpose of the Priority Announcement is to advance KT (synthesis, dissemination, exchange and ethically sound application of knowledge). It is expected that this targeted investment will lead to a better understanding of concepts, theories and practices that underlie effective KT in order to improve the health of Canadians, provide more effective health services and products and strengthen the health care system.
The KT Branch provides funding for applications that are determined to be relevant to the following research priority areas:
- KT Science (the determinants of knowledge use and effective methods of promoting the uptake of knowledge):
- Increase understanding of the theory and practice of KT
- Develop tools/measures to evaluate the effectiveness/impact of KT practices/interventions
- KT Practice (moving research into action):
- Increase the uptake/application of knowledge to bridge a knowledge to action gap.
- Increase the understanding of knowledge application.
The total amount available for this funding opportunity is $100,000.
