HFSP Career Development Award (CDA) Funding Opportunity
The Human Frontier Science Program (HFSP) was founded in 1989 upon an initiative of the Japanese government within the group of the G7. Presently, the Human Frontier Science Program Organization (HFSPO) supporting countries include Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada (Canadian Institutes of Health Research and Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council), Cyprus (EU part only), Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Republic of Ireland, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom and United States of America.HFSP is a unique and highly regarded program and supports innovative basic research into fundamental biological problems, with emphasis placed on novel approaches involving scientific exchanges across national and disciplinary boundaries. Biological research has become increasingly quantitative through the participation of scientists from biophysics, physics, chemistry, computer science, engineering, mathematics or nanoscience. Such collaborations have opened up new approaches for understanding the complex structures and regulatory networks that characterize the evolution and interactions of organisms and biological systems.
HFSP has three areas of funding of interest, they include: HFSP Research Grants; HFSP Postdoctoral Fellowships; and, HFSP Career Development Award. Within this framework, HFSP invites applications for Career Development Awards (CDA). Of note this Award will fund HFSP fellows who return to their home country or move to an HFSP member country to establish their independent laboratory. It is the primary funding mechanism offered by HFSP that aims at encouraging repatriation of postdoctoral researchers after the fellowship tenure abroad.
HFSP Career Development Award (CDA) application deadline: November 14, 2012 @ 1 pm Central European Time (CET).
