When asked how their neighbourhood could be changed to improve their own health and well-being, residents often suggest increased access to green spaces as well as stores with affordable and nutritious foods. But it takes careful research to make these changes happen and ensure that they will be effective.
The Ottawa Neighbourhood Study is a leading edge, innovative research study that demonstrates the value of neighbourhood health factors. This study has collected detailed information on every neighbourhood in the city, from Orleans to Kanata, to the rural areas along the Rideau.
So what will be done now to improve Ottawa? How can urban planners, citizens, and neighbourhood groups use this information to make our city a healthier place to live? To learn more about this, and to share your views, please join us for an informative discussion about neighbourhood health issues with some of Canada’s leading experts in the field. This free event is hosted by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, its Institute of Nutrition, Metabolism and Diabetes and its Institute of Population and Public Health. Space is limited.
