Dr. Zubin Master is currently a Research Associate at the University of Alberta’s Health Law and Science Policy Group. He holds a doctorate in cellular and molecular biology from the University of Toronto and has performed a post-doctoral fellowship in bioethics and health policy at Dalhousie University and the University of British Columbia. Previously, Zubin worked as a Senior Policy Advisor/Analyst at Health Canada. Initially he developed regulations on assisted human reproduction and embryo research under the Assisted Human Reproduction Act and subsequently led the development of the Health Canada Scientific Integrity Framework. Dr. Master’s area of research interests in bioethics focuses on the ethics and policy of embryo and stem cell research, genethics, the ethics and governance of research involving humans, and the responsible conduct of research (a.k.a. research integrity). He has published dozens of articles on numerous topics including stem cell tourism, biobanking and informed consent, translation and commercialization of stem cell research, stem cell gametes, hype and public trust, moral compromise in stem cell research policy, and the responsible conduct of research including authorship, peer review, and scientific responsibility. Dr. Master continues to serve or has been a member of several governmental and non-governmental committees and journal editorial boards.
