Vice-President, Competition Management
Jeff Latimer is the Vice-President of Competition Management at the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) where he manages all of CIHR's grant competitions and related enterprises, such as the College of Reviewers. Previously, he was the Director General of Priority Driven Research at CIHR managing large-scale strategic investments from early conception through to end-stage management. He was also the Director of the Health Statistics Division at Statistics Canada where he managed Canada's national health statistics program. In addition, Jeff was the Chair of the Canadian Council for Cancer Registries and the Vital Statistics Council of Canada. He holds a PhD in Criminology from the University of Ottawa, with a strong focus on the connections between the justice and health systems, and a Master of Social Work from McGill University. Jeff has spent the last twenty years as a researcher, statistician and executive in the federal government.
