Funding Pre-Announcement – New Investigator Awards in Circulatory and Respiratory Health
It is with great enthusiasm that we announce the upcoming launch of a new funding competition, the New Investigator Awards in Circulatory and Respiratory Health. The award will provide early-career investigators from a variety of research backgrounds the opportunity to initiate and conduct research in the area of circulatory and/or respiratory health by providing protected research time via a stable salary base and operating funds.
This funding competition reflects a partnership between the CIHR’s Institute of Circulatory and Respiratory Health (ICRH), Institute of Aboriginal Peoples’ Health (IAPH), Institute of Nutrition, Metabolism and Diabetes (INMD), Hypertension Canada (HTC) and AstraZeneca Canada (AZ Canada) with potential to expand to include additional partners. The current amount of this competition is $1 725 000, enough to fund up to 5 awards. The maximum amount per award is $115 000 for up to three years for a total of $345 000.
This RFA is aligned with CIHR’s Roadmap II, Strategic Direction 2 to build, shape and mobilize research capacity to address critical health issues that are important to patients and Canadians, and to maximize health, social and economic impacts through targeted and partnered investments. With Canadians continuing to face tremendously high health burdens related to poor cardiovascular and respiratory health, the need to expand research knowledge and capacity in these areas is significant.
We are excited to announce this upcoming funding competition and will share more details with you soon.
