Policies behind GBA Plus

There are a number of government policies and action plans driving GBA Plus at CIHR.

2016-2020 Action Plan on Gender-Based Analysis Plus
The Government of Canada renewed its commitment to GBA Plus and is working to strengthen its implementation across all federal departments.

Health Portfolio Sex and Gender-Based Analysis Plus Policy
The Government of Canada’s Health Portfolio (the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, CIHR, Health Canada, and the Public Health Agency of Canada) use Sex- and Gender-Based Analysis Plus (SGBA Plus)Footnote 1 to develop, implement, and evaluate the Health Portfolio’s research, surveillance, legislation, policies, regulations, programs, services, and other initiatives.

Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans
“The principle of Justice holds that particular individuals, groups or communities should neither bear an unfair share of the direct burdens of participating in research, nor should they be unfairly excluded from the potential benefits of research participation. Inclusiveness in research and fair distribution of benefits and burdens should be important considerations for researchers, research ethics boards (REBs), research institutions and sponsors.“
