Impacts of integrating sex and gender into research
CIHR has compiled a number of examples of SGBA successes for each of CIHR’s primary research theme: biomedical, clinical, health systems and services, and population health research.

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Analysis in CIHR Funding Programs.
CIHR conducts EDI analyses of applicants and recipients to CIHR funding programs using data collected through the Tri-agency Self-identification questionnaire. Conducting these analyses helps CIHR to identify and understand potential inequities, underrepresentation or exclusions within our funding system.  See findings of analyses conducted on the 2018 and 2019 Spring and Fall Project Grant Competitions and the 2020 COVID-19 Funding Competitions.

Gender Equity Data Analyses
CIHR conducted analyses of the results of all of our funding programs as part of our effort to uncover potential sources of bias and other barriers to equitable access to CIHR funds. Findings indicated differences in success rates between men and women for some of our programs. As a result, the Gender Equity Framework outlines actions to address these differences, including corrective measures in success where necessary.
