Biography

Dr. Paul Allison is professor in the Faculty of Dental Medicine & Oral Health Sciences at McGill University. Originally trained in dentistry, oral and maxillofacial surgery and dental public health in the UK, he earned his PhD at McGill in 1998. He became professor there in 1999 and Dean of the Faculty in 2008 to 2018. He has been Director of Quebec-based Oral and Bone Health Research Network and President of the Association of Canadian Faculties of Dentistry and the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences (CAHS). His research interests include psychosocial and social determinants of oral health and oral health care, including issues of access to dental care. He chaired a CAHS panel that published a report on improving access to oral health care for vulnerable people living in Canada. He lives in Saint-Lambert, Quebec, with his wife Sophia and their daughter Laura.
