Disrupting White Supremacy and Racism in Public Health Systems

In May 2022, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research – Institute of Population and Public Health (CIHR–IPPH) and the National Collaborating Centre for Determinants of Health (NCCDH) co-hosted a virtual workshop, Future Search: Action for Disrupting White Supremacy and Racism in Public Health Systems.

This workshop was the result of over a year of organizational collaborations and a joint desire to actively envision anti-racist public health systems and identify concrete actions for disrupting White supremacy.

Today we are pleased to share the following report, documenting the activities and discussions that took place during this workshop.

This report, and particularly the commitments made in the eight common ground statements and their associated action plans, is intended to act as inspiration and a starting point for all those seeking to disrupt White supremacy and racism within public health systems.

IPPH and NCCDH are thankful for this productive partnership and remain committed to working together and with other partners toward action. We are hopeful this report will inspire others to do the same.
