Recipient
Dr. Jayna Holroyd-Leduc
Dr. Jayna Holroyd-Leduc, an academic geriatrician and knowledge translation researcher at the University of Calgary, has dedicated her career to improving healthcare for older Canadians. Her innovative research has bridged the gap between knowledge and practice—reshaping how acute and continuing care are delivered across Alberta and beyond.
Her work has led to province-wide implementation of the Elder Friendly Care hospital program and a provincial hip fracture care pathway, both of which have enhanced outcomes for patients and the healthcare system alike. She also spearheaded the LTC–Emergency Department Care Pathway, reducing unnecessary hospital transfers while improving care for long-term care residents.
Supported by CIHR and Alberta Innovates, Dr. Holroyd-Leduc continues to lead groundbreaking initiatives that delay frailty progression, enhance symptom management, and promote supportive end-of-life care within continuing care settings. As Academic Lead of the University of Calgary’s Centre on Aging, she is shaping the future healthcare workforce to meet the needs of an aging population. Her leadership has influenced provincial and national policy, earning her recognition as a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences.
Through her research, mentorship, and advocacy, Dr. Holroyd-Leduc has fundamentally transformed how older adults experience healthcare in Canada—creating a legacy of compassionate, evidence-based, and age-friendly care.
