Message from Norman Rosenblum, INMD Scientific Director
September 2021
September is a time for CIHR Institute Advisory Board (IAB) renewal, and I am pleased to announce a number of changes to the INMD IAB. First, I would like to sincerely thank the members of the IAB who have completed their terms of service. They include Gillian Booth (U of Toronto, St. Michael’s Hospital), Catherine Field (U of Alberta), Wally MacNaughton (U of Calgary) and Doug Manuel (U of Ottawa, ICES). INMD has greatly benefitted from the contributions of Gillian, Catherine, Wally and Doug over the years, and we will greatly miss the perspectives they provided, as well as their enthusiasm and commitment.
Secondly, I am very pleased to welcome four new members to the INMD IAB. They include:
- Vasanti Malik - Assistant Professor and Canada Research Chair in Nutrition and Chronic Disease Prevention, Department of Nutritional Sciences, U of Toronto and Adjunct Assistant Professor, Department of Nutrition, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health
- Laura Syron - President & CEO, Diabetes Canada
- Laura Sly - Associate Professor, Department of Pediatrics, Division of Gastroenterology, BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute, U of British Columbia
- André Tchernof – Professor, School of Nutrition, Laval University
Throughout the years, INMD has benefited from the diversity, breadth of experience and perspectives of our IAB members. I feel fortunate that INMD has such a talented and committed IAB, and I am confident that we will benefit from the experience of our new members. You can read their biosketches on the INMD website.
