Launch of two CIHR HIV/AIDS and STBBI funding opportunities: Planning and Dissemination Grants and CBR Team Grants

CIHR is pleased to announce the launch of two new funding opportunities from the HIV/AIDS and STBBI Research Initiative.

Community-Based Research (CBR) Team Grants

The purpose of this funding opportunity is to support a diversity of CBR teams to build and strengthen capacity for CBR and knowledge mobilization activities that are centred in the self-determined priorities of the communities and will lead to improved health outcomes for key populations disproportionately affected by STBBI in Canada.

Funds are available in two stages:

The application deadline for the LOI stage is June 13, 2024.

CIHR will host a strengthening workshop in the winter of 2025 for successful LOI applicants to help guide the teams in developing full applications by providing information on application and evaluation processes and to support sharing and building connections amongst the teams.

Information sessions about this funding opportunity will be held in the winter of 2024 (dates to be confirmed in early January 2024). To find out more information visit the Webinars page.

Planning and Dissemination Grants

These grants are intended to provide support for planning and/or dissemination activities (either virtual or in-person) consistent with the mandate of CIHR and relevant to CIHR Institutes and Initiatives.

Through this funding opportunity, the HIV/AIDS and STBBI Research Initiative encourages applications that are aligned with the strategic research areas outlined within the 2022-2027 HIV/AIDS and STBBI Research Initiative Strategic Plan and particularly encourages activities that promote research planning with and/or uptake of research findings by relevant stakeholders and communities most impacted by HIV/AIDS and/or other STBBI. Proposals may include but are not limited to activities, gatherings or workshops that facilitate collaboration among researchers and stakeholder groups to initiate new research directions and/or new partnerships to promote increased knowledge mobilization.

The HIV/AIDS and STBBI Research Initiative is offering $100,000 (enough to fund approx. 5 grants at $20,000 for one year) to fund applications relevant to the research initiative mandate (note additional funding is available by other initiatives and institutes).

The application deadline is February 1, 2024.
